Injections can help reduce inflammation and smooth out wrinkles, leaving you with a more youthful appearance.

Neurotoxin

What is Neurotoxin?

Neurotoxin is a purified protein, authorized for sale by Health Canada and the FDA to treat moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and horizontal lines on the forehead.

How does it work?

Neurotoxin belongs to a group of neuromodulators that work by blocking signals from the nerves to the muscles, causing them to relax. When injected into the muscles, it temporarily reduces muscle activity, resulting in fewer lines and wrinkles, especially in areas of the face that move frequently, such as around the eyes and mouth.

Benefits

Neurotoxin is a safe and effective way to prevent the formation of wrinkles and treat existing ones. It is a non-surgical treatment that can be done in a short office visit with no downtime. The benefits of Neurotoxin include:
  • Reducing the appearance of frown lines, crow’s feet, and horizontal lines on the forehead.
  • Improving the overall appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for a more youthful look.
  • Treating excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), bruxism, and migraines. Results that last for several months with regular treatments.

Juvederm

What is Juvederm?

Juvederm is a non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid (NASHA) that can be injected into the skin for various purposes, from smoothing out crow’s feet to plumping the lips, and several purposes in between.

How does it work?

A type of bacteria is bioengineered to produce hyaluronic acid (HA) nearly identical to the one found in the human body. The resulting HA is purified, treated to firm up, and converted to a stable gel form. The HA gel is then dispersed to create the smooth-textured gel known as Juvederm. The product line is well-known for its smooth consistency that results in a natural feeling and look. Juvederm also contains lidocaine to provide extra comfort during your injection treatment. This non-surgical option for facial filler can be performed by our doctors in only 15 to 60 minutes, providing instant results for the areas injected. Juvederm is both reversible and biodegradable. If you are unsatisfied with your results, you can return to your pre-filler appearance. Juvederm facial fillers have been clinically proven to last anywhere from 6 months up to a year with a single treatment.

Benefits

Juvederm can be a universal solvent, adding volume to areas that have lost collagen or hyaluronic acid. It can be used to treat any number of undesirable qualities, such as crow’s feet, thinning lips, wrinkles, and so-called “smoker’s lines.” For deeper folds and wrinkles, Juvederm Ultra Plus or Voluma can be used, both of which allow for more lifting. During your consultation, ask about static and dynamic facial movement. In a survey of 115 men and women, 96% were happy or delighted with their results straight after treatment with Juvederm Voluma. Juvederm is also the world’s leading brand of hyaluronic acid facial fillers, trusted by millions for a wide range of personalized treatments. The duration of the results of Juvederm injections depends on the area treated. In areas where there is less movement of the skin, such as tear troughs and cheeks, Juvederm will last for nine months to one year. In areas where there is more movement, such as the nasolabial folds (smile lines), Juvederm tends to last for about six to nine months. In the lips, which have the most movement, fillers tend to last four to six months.

PRP

What is PRP?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is an injectable substance that is derived from the plasma and buffy coat of our blood. It contains platelets and white blood cells which are crucial for the regeneration of injured tissue.

How Does It Work?

Once injected into the tissue, PRP sends signals to the area to begin the healing process: blood flow increases, growth factors arrive, and new cells begin to prosper. PRP injections can be effective in treating male pattern baldness, both in preventing hair loss and promoting new hair growth. PRP can also aid in the stimulation of hair growth after hair transplants.

Benefits

The results of PRP treatment are most noticeable after several weeks for joint injections and six months for scalp injections, and are not permanent. Patients may require additional injections at the direction of their doctor. Because the treatments use a patient’s own tissues, PRP injections are safe and can be administered alone or used in conjunction with other procedures.

How to prepare?

You will be able to go home the day you receive the procedure. A typical procedure can take 45-90 mins. You may need to stop taking certain types of medications before the procedure, such as NSAIDs, corticosteroids, and anticoagulants.

What to expect and consider?

  • The patient may experience some local bruising and tenderness at the injection site for a few days following the procedure. Note that PRP injections are not recommended for patients who suffer from bleeding disorders, active infections, or cancer. Patients who are taking anticoagulation medications and pregnant women should also avoid this treatment.
  • Everyone experiences pain differently and we offer two levels of PRP injections to best suit your needs.

What to expect after Sculptra?

Most people can return to their normal activities immediately after Sculptra injections. Swelling, bruising, and other side effects are usually mild and subside within a few days. Doing the following will help speed along your recovery.
Apply a cold pack to the affected area for a few minutes at a time within the first 24 hours. Following treatment, massage the area for five minutes at a time, five times a day, for five days. Avoid excessive sunlight or tanning beds until any redness and swelling has resolved. Results are gradual, and it may take a few weeks to see the full effects of Sculptra. Results last up to two years.

Targeted areas for Sculptra

Sculptra is used to diminish facial wrinkles and folds and has been clinically approved to treat smile lines and other wrinkles around the nose and mouth as well as chin wrinkles.

Procedure for Sculptra

  • During your initial consultation with a trained physician, you’ll be asked to provide your complete medical history, including any medical conditions and allergies.
  • On the day of your first Sculptra treatment, your doctor will map the injection sites on your skin and cleanse the area. A topical anesthetic may be applied to help with any discomfort. Your doctor will then inject your skin using multiple small injections.
  • You should be able to return to your normal activities immediately after treatment. Your doctor will advise you of any special instructions.

Belkyra

What is Belkyra?

Like Juvederm and Botox Cosmetic also produced by Allergan, Belkyra is an injectable aesthetic product. Specifically, Belkyra is a deoxycholic acid. Called Belkyra Injectable in Canada, it is Health Canada approved. It has been proven a safe injectable substance that is used to reduce and potentially erase the excess fat under the chin – a double chin, or in physiological precision, a submental fullness.

How Does It Work?

The active ingredient in Belkyra is deoxycholic acid, a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath your chin, Belkyra causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat.

Who is a good candidate for Belkyra injections?

Anyone who is self-conscious about the fat below his or her chin may benefit from Belkyra. Excess fat in this area may be a genetic trait, or it may be related to aging or weight gain. Men and women in their 20s and 30s may be excellent candidates for this treatment because their skin retains most of its elasticity, meaning it will “shrink to fit” the new contours once the fat cells are destroyed. Belkyra injections can also be a good approach for patients in their 40s, 50s, and 60s — especially when combined with radiofrequency microneedling or Restylane Skinboosters to tighten and smooth the neck’s crepey skin.

FAQs

Yes. Depending on the number of injections needed, a typical treatment session may last between 20 and 30 minutes.
Belkyra injections can produce some significant swelling, particularly following the initial treatment. You may also experience some redness and soreness, but those side effects tend to resolve fairly quickly. Some patients may take off a few days from work if they are self-conscious about the swelling. Others may wear turtleneck tops or other clothes that conceal the neck.

radiesse

What is Radiesse?

Radiesse is an injectable filler used to plump wrinkled or folded areas of the skin, most often on the face. As it works, Radiesse stimulates the naturally-occurring collagen beneath your skin. It works immediately, can last for up to two years, and is a highly sought-after choice for dermal filling.
Radiesse treatments are most often given in the skin surrounding the nose and mouth. Some people who choose this procedure want to fill in wrinkled areas in their hands. Injections are administered under the skin with a tiny needle. The ingredients in Radiesse are nontoxic, non allergenic, and compatible with your body’s natural tissues.
Ideal candidates for Radiesse treatments are adults between the ages of 35 and 60 who have developed folds and wrinkles around their mouth and nose. Candidates who want the skin on their hands plumped are also ideal.

How Does It Work?

Radiesse is injected under the skin in a quick procedure that can be done over the lunch hour.

How soon will I see results with Radiesse, and how long will they last?

Immediately upon injection, Radiesse helps smooth out lines and wrinkles. The natural-looking results last a year or more in many patients.

Preparing for Radiesse

Before you receive Radiesse injections, consult with your doctor regarding any medications you’re currently taking. Some medications, like blood thinners, warfarin, or aspirin, can cause excessive bleeding or bruising at the location of treatment.
Your doctor will also need to know if you have any issues with your hands, like disabilities, diseases, or injuries. Let them know if your skin tends to scar poorly, particularly if the scars are raised or large. They should also be aware of skin peels or similar treatments you may have had.

Procedure for Radiesse

Your doctor will inject Radiesse in their office while using local anesthesia. It’s possible you may experience discomfort or a small amount of pain with each injection. Lidocaine is FDA-approved to be combined with Radiesse injections to ease any pain you may feel during the procedure.
First, your doctor will determine where you need to receive each injection. Then, they’ll apply antiseptic to the sites where you’ll be injected. After that, your doctor will decide on your dosage. Finally, you’ll receive the injections.
Radiesse procedures can take as long as 15 minutes, depending on how many injections you need. You won’t have to spend any recovery time at the doctor’s office, and you should be able to go home immediately after you’ve received your injections.
